If you've read our previous blog post about why seamless gutters are preferred instead of sectional gutters, you likely read that seamless gutters are one single uniform piece. As a small recap or in case you have not read the previous blog post, seamless gutters are created as one single unit with no spaces and do not have sections that need to be connected together. Installing seamless gutters eliminates the opportunity for water to leak from your gutters whereas sectional gutters have gaps that are held together by clips or screws and oftentimes leak in those spaces. If you have gutters that leak, your gutters are not doing the job they were designed to do. Since you now know the difference and benefits of the two major types of gutters you may be wondering how exactly a giant, seamless gutter is even transported to your home.
As you have likely noticed, seamless gutters are usually very long since they are made to fit your building exactly. It would be incredibly difficult and nearly impossible to transport such a large single piece of metal to your home safely, especially in south Louisiana. Can you imagine trucks driving around Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Walker, or Prairieville driving down Airline Highway or I-10 with giant pieces of metal hanging from their trucks? That would surely be a sight to behold! So how are these single pieces of metal gutters transported?
You may be surprised to know that seamless gutters are actually fabricated on-site! Specialized machines are utilized to create seamless gutters at your location. Once we schedule and complete an estimate and get the official go-ahead, we confirm your color preference and all details. Next, we show up on the scheduled day and time to your project site with our vehicles with our machinery and materials. The material used to create your seamless gutters comes in a single rolled-up sheet of metal in whichever color selection you choose. Once we arrive, the specialized machinery is set up and the gutter material is fed through the machine that bends and shapes the material into the perfect shape and sized gutter for your home. Using precise tools and materials, a hole is cut where your downspout will be placed and is sealed with a high-quality sealant. The ends of the gutters that are not joined together have specialized fittings that attach and close off the edge. On the opposite edge of the seamless gutters where each side meets at the corner of your building, the two gutter pieces are joined together. This is the only portion of seamless gutters that are not completely seamless since they have to be joined together at the edge.
Due to on-site fabrication, not only do the seamless gutters exactly fit your home, but they are also uniform and are not weakened from any manipulation during transportation. Additionally, since seamless gutters are created as a single unit, they are exceptionally strong compared to other types of gutters since they eliminate any possible weak spots.
